Shella Sylla, Founder and Director of The SisterGolf Foundation Encourages More Women and Youth to Explore Golf as Access to the Sport Continues to Expand Nationwide

“Golf can change the trajectory of someone’s life. As access to the game grows nationwide, we want more women and young people to feel like there’s a place for them in golf and a community ready to support them.” — Shella Sylla, SisterGolf
The SisterGolf Foundation, Founded by Director Shella Sylla, is helping expand access to golf for women and underrepresented youth as nationwide efforts continue making the sport more affordable and accessible. Through scholarships, mentorship, clinics, networking opportunities, and community events, the foundation empowers new players to build confidence, relationships, and personal growth through golf while creating a more inclusive future for the game.

HOOVER, AL – As organizations across the country invest in making golf more accessible, more youth and families are being introduced to the game through affordable programs and community initiatives. As access to the sport continues to expand nationwide, the SisterGolf Foundation is helping women and underrepresented youth turn those opportunities into confidence, community, and long-term personal growth.

For many families, the cost of lessons, equipment, course access, and exposure to the sport has historically made golf feel out of reach. But recent efforts to reduce those barriers are opening the door for more people to experience the game and the opportunities it often offers.

“Golf has the ability to impact people far beyond the course itself,” said Shella Sylla. “It teaches confidence, creates relationships, opens professional doors, and introduces people to environments and opportunities they may have never imagined for themselves. As access to golf continues to grow, we want more women and young people to feel like there’s a place for them in the game,” added Shella Sylla.

Founded to empower women and underrepresented youth through golf, SisterGolf Foundation provides golf instruction, mentorship, networking opportunities, workshops, clinics, and community events designed to help participants grow both personally and professionally.

The organization also works to reduce financial barriers through scholarships and reduced program fees, helping make golf more accessible for individuals who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

Beyond learning the sport, SisterGolf Foundation focuses on creating a supportive community where women and youth can build confidence, develop relationships, and gain exposure to new personal and professional opportunities through golf.

“We believe access is only the beginning,” Shella Sylla added. “Once someone enters the game, they should feel supported, encouraged, and connected to a community that helps them continue growing both on and off the course,” Shella Sylla emphasized.

As momentum around youth golf and accessibility continues to grow nationwide, SisterGolf Foundation remains committed to expanding opportunities for more women and young people to experience the positive impact the game can have on their lives.
