Merry Edwards began exploring the Anderson Valley appellation with the 2021 vintage, debuting a Dach Vineyard Pinot Noir and then extending into appellation wines – Anderson Valley Pinot Noir and Anderson Valley Chardonnay with the 2022 vintage. The strength of these early releases, paired with company owned and farmed estate vineyards and holdings throughout the appellation, made a dedicated Anderson Valley tasting room a natural evolution.
“We introduced Anderson Valley wines into the Merry Edwards portfolio when the winery joined the Roederer family. Anderson Valley gives us another extraordinary landscape to explore, while allowing us to remain true to the philosophy that has guided Merry Edwards from the beginning: that great wines begin with a deep understanding and respect for the vineyard,” said Nicole Carter, President of Roederer Collection US Wineries. “Now, the tasting room in Philo gives us an opportunity to connect Merry Edwards with new consumers and gives our loyal guests a fresh destination to explore. We believe bringing Merry Edwards to Anderson Valley in this way will continue to build the reputation of the terroir-driven wines that define the region.”
“Anderson Valley’s coastal climate gives us a different expression of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay than what we see in the Russian River Valley, and that contrast has been exciting to explore,” said Heidi von der Mehden, Head Winemaker of Merry Edwards. “We’re producing appellation blends alongside a single-vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, with more wines still to come. Having a tasting room here gives us the chance to share that story with guests, right where these wines are grown in real time.”
Merry Edwards’ original tasting room in Sebastopol remains the brand’s flagship home in the Russian River Valley, where the winery will continue to welcome guests alongside its new Anderson Valley location.
The new Anderson Valley tasting room is located at 9201 Highway 128, Philo, Calif.
