New resource helps local buyers and relocating families identify ideal Huntsville-area communities based on their preferred commute time and home price range.
Huntsville, AL (PRUnderground) August 31st, 2026
Huntsville Realtor Steve Stinson has launched the Huntsville Commute Home Finder, a free online resource designed to help homebuyers, whether they already live in Huntsville or are relocating to the area, determine where to focus their home search based on the commute and home price range they want.
Unlike home searches based only on city boundaries, ZIP codes or straight-line distance, the Huntsville Commute Home Finder compares real driving times using actual road routes. Users select where they work, choose a preferred commute range and home price range, and the resource identifies Huntsville-area communities that fit those preferences.
“Where you live in Huntsville can have a major impact on your daily commute, especially for people working at Redstone Arsenal, Cummings Research Park or one of the area’s other major employment centers,” said Stinson, REALTOR® and Broker Associate with Keller Williams Realty Huntsville. “I wanted to give buyers a practical way to narrow the map before they start spending time looking at homes in areas that may not fit the commute they actually want.”
The resource includes preset locations for major Huntsville-area employment destinations, including Redstone Arsenal gates, Cummings Research Park, Downtown Huntsville, Huntsville Hospital, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, Huntsville International Airport, major defense employers and local universities. Users can also enter another workplace or address.
After selecting a workplace, users choose the commute range they are comfortable with and their home price range. The Huntsville Commute Home Finder then calculates drive times to residential areas throughout the Huntsville market and displays qualifying communities on an interactive map.
Users can then connect directly to currently active home listings in their selected price range for communities that match their commute preferences.
The resource is intended to solve a common problem for both local buyers and people relocating to Huntsville: two communities that appear relatively close on a map can produce very different daily commutes depending on road access, traffic patterns, Redstone Arsenal gates and the location of the workplace.
It can also help current Huntsville-area buyers who are considering a move specifically to reduce their commute or make daily travel more convenient.
“With so many people moving to Huntsville for defense, aerospace, technology, healthcare and manufacturing jobs, one of the first questions I hear is, ‘Where should I live if I’m working here?’” Stinson said. “There usually isn’t one correct neighborhood. The better starting point is to identify the areas that fit the buyer’s actual commute tolerance and budget, and then compare homes within those areas.”
